MY BABY GIRL IS HAVING A BABY BOY...

Updated: May 17, 2019

MY BABY GIRL IS HAVING A BABY BOY...

I attended my first ever Gender Reveal Party this past weekend. I didn’t know what to expect. Perhaps it’s where the family of the pregnant family members get together to share why they are glad they are the gender they were born with? Hey, who knows these days? That’s what happened. We ate and ate some more. We visited with family members—some I had never met before. And we experienced a creative way of finding out what gender the baby is of the pregnant family member that invited us to the event. The pregnant lady, in case you hadn’t figured it out, is my daughter, Halie Alise Kitchings Crane. Man, do I love her! Logan, her husband, loves baseball. So, he hit a baseball filled with the color of blue his dad pitched to him. (Yes, he could not have hit it if I had thrown it to him. I throw way too fast for that boy.) Everyone cheered when the blue was revealed knowing there’d be a boy. Logan and Halie were hoping for a boy. (I hoped for a girl. I think having a baby Halie would be great! Besides, I already have two grandsons. Maybe next time?) Get this, his name is Braven Michael Crane. You guessed it! Logan not only loves baseball; he loves Atlanta Braves baseball! Wow, what a name! The boy has a lot to live up to. I pray he does. I hope he is brave warrior for Christ. Isn’t that what we all want for our children/grandchildren?

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE YOUR INFLUENCE UPON FAMILY…

This recent experience has caused me to reflect. I have reflected on my parents and grandparents. They were Godly and gave me a lot to live up to. I am thankful! And now I have a responsibility to pass on a spiritual influence on my grandkids the best I can. They will likely always live in another city, but I can always pray for them and encourage them in various ways. Let’s be reminded of what the Apostle Paul said in 2 Timothy 1:5-6, “I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith, that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well. For this reason, I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands…” May we “fan the flame” of influence for Jesus; we have to so our testimony doesn’t die when we do.

Until Next Time...
